2018 NBS Area Show Sunday 16th September

Over 400 birds benched at our Annual Area Open Show which made it a

terrific show and many punters through the doors.

Our judges Sammy Adams, Robert Ellis,John Newell and Doug Pringle made

John Rogers' entry Best in Show. It is so nice when a local breeder takes this

award, well done John!

Best Champion Young Bird winners T&A Luke.

Best Intermediate Young Bird winner A.Oliver

Best Intermediate Any Age. R Toon

Best Novice Young Bird and Any Age D Harrison

Best Beginner Any Age and Young Bird S Clements

Best Juvenile Any Age and Young Bird Jack Clark

It was strongly felt that the judges did a really good job.

Many thanks to John Cosby for doing the Show Secretarys job, the job

ran so smoothly with the results sheets being distributed in splendid

timing. John works quietly but gets on with his job efficiently and

without any problems

Adrian Richards with Kyle Kime did another well run orderly show

done in a very professional manner.

Anne Cairns made the luncheons for the judges again and it was

appreciated by them. There was nothing left so that speaks for itself,

thanks Anne.

Gaile Clark spent her time in the kitchen all day preparing the meals

for the workers and serving refreshments. She always does a cracking

job and many thanks to her, she did not even have time to look at the

Once again we had a trader come along for the members surplus

birds and Colin Wright and Peter Watts organised this, making over

£130 for the NBS. Brian Batey was also helping as he enjoys

hoovering up. Well done lads.

Thanks to Ian Cooper for selling the raffle tickets and doing well

adding to our funds.

To the stewards I wish to make a special mention as they stayed all

day working bringing and fetching birds for the judges. Not for them

just dropping their birds off and going home. They are a special breed.

Don Rowell was in the counting house in charge of the money and

also bringing the bacon and buns for early eating, just sets everyone

up for the work ahead.

Jim Smith with his apprentice Davey Harrison smoothly got stuck into

the patronage. Another thankless task well worked by two dedicated

The lads and lasses who were there at the crack of dawn putting up

the staging and taking it down after the show had finished.

Without these dedicated people the show would not go ahead and the

committee would like to thank them all.

A very successful show and a very friendly atmosphere, thanks to

everyone who attended.

Many thanks to our very kind and generous sponsors.
