2018 Guest Speakers part 2

August 5th 2018 Guest Colin Cobbledick

We had a good turn out to hear our guest Colin Cobbledick who had made the 8 hours car journey to be with us. It was good as it was in the middle of the show season and holiday season, many of our members were away on holiday and some judging and others showing.

Colin made it a very amusing presentation and he comes over as a very passionate budgie man who just loves the budgie scene especially the breeding part. He loves having visitors who talk budgies.

After a tea break he took questions and everyone really enjoyed the afternoon.

Roy Cooke our secretary made a presentation to Colin and thanked him for being our guest.

On Sunday 2nd September Bob Allen from Bristol was our guest and it was a wonderful afternooons presentation of his birds and his set up. Not many in the audience breed rares so it was interesting to hear Bob describe what he breeds. The beauty of the presentation was the photographs of his rare breeds and how dedicated he is in breeding them. It is so gratifying to know that these varieties will not die out as long as people like Bob perservere.
It was a long way to come from Bristol to Co.Durham and it showed what a dedicated budgie man he is and a generous gentleman.

Sunday 7th October 2018

Although Stafford show was on we still had over 30 members along to see 2 BS panel judges John Rogers and Don Rowell judging birds and answering our questions on their techniques and also explaining some of the advise given by the BS. Raymond Rogerson won the champions section and Ged Watts won the Novice section.
